Great opportunity to join a global industry leader, as the champion for strategic development and management of the Global Bioinformatics Group. As the Group Leader, you will drive the innovation of bioinformatics and genomics capabilities for research, development, and delivery of products for multiple sites.

The successful Leader will have a Ph.D. in bioinformatics, genomics, or computational biology, and 10+years’ experience in industrial biotechnology or related Industrial R&D life science environments. Requires extensive leadership skills and knowledge of bioinformatics, genomics and pan-genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, systems biology, data integration and computational sciences.

Responsibilities:

— Lead the integration, analysis, and interpretation of genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics and other complex datasets for product discovery and research.

— Champion, prioritize and coordinate bioinformatics research programs and strategy across diverse scientific, professional and cultural backgrounds.

— Manage the Bioinformatics Team performance; create and administer individual development plans and group activities within the organizational framework. Cultivate an effective team environment and promote the full engagement of team members across disciplines at all levels and across multiple sites.

— Lead the development and implementation of bioinformatics and genomics research strategies in support of key business priorities.

— Partner with IT department to provide research subject matter expertise and prototyping in the development of new and innovative bioinformatics tools.

— Drive the development and utilization of pan-genomics capabilities to enhance breeding and trait discovery.

— Build partnerships with internal businesses and with IT to drive innovations from bioinformatics research into the product pipelines.

— Participate on the Computational Biology Leadership Team, to develop and implement computational science strategy, including the convergence of genomics, genetics, and predictive modeling capabilities.

— Provide technical knowledge to scout and evaluate new opportunities in bioinformatics and be the in-house expert on competitor’s activities in this area.

      — Develop and manage operational and capital budget for the Bioinformatics Group.

— Communicate research plans, drivers, and progress to business stakeholders, project leaders, research managers and technical partners.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in bioinformatics, genomics, computational biology or related field, and 10+years Leadership experience in the area of industrial biotechnology or other R&D life science environments (pharmaceuticals, agrichemicals, plants, consumer products, nutraceuticals, etc.)

 — Extensive experience in large-scale bioinformatics research, including management, integration, and mining of genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics and other complex datasets to generate knowledge.

 — Demonstrated success in leading a complex, results-oriented research program and scientific team requiring creativity, innovative thinking, organization and collaborative skills.

 — Leadership experience in partnering and working with global cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.

 — Project and portfolio management knowledge in a matrixed organization (cross-functional, cross-site, cross-business) and technical environment.

 — Requires domestic and international travel (20%)

 — Must be authorized to work in the US.
